Vine- ‘A popular internet slang related to short videos’







Vine was originally a video hosting service where users used to share 6 seconds long video, kind of micro vlogging site. The idea was to help people create clips capturing casual / impromptu moments in and around their lives. It was acquired by Twitter. Pushing Creativity in six seconds was a challenging task and finally it was shut down by Twitter due to various other reasons.







The culture survived, the vision remained, the idea grew and what you see today in Youtube, the viral vine compilation videos is just the re-incarnation of the ideas of the initial vine hosting service.







Vine was a social media app that people used to make 6 second videos. It eventually became so popular that the videos themselves came to be known as vines.







The app has been discontinued by it’s parent company Twitter, but many of the original users have continued to make super short skits and challenge videos in the same format, but now uploading it on other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram AND YouTube.







Vines by some of the original creators like, Zach King, KingBach, Amanda Cerny, Anwar Jibawi and more have been made into Vine Compilations that’s now all over YT.
